History of Hotel Sepetná

The beginnings of accommodation facilities in the Sepetná Valley date back to 1910, when on February 2, the Association of Convalescent Homes in Moravian Ostrava (Vereine Ferienheim in Mähr. Ostrau) bought property No.20 together with the adjacent land from the then owners. Apparently, a mountain hut was built on the site of the former homestead; the hut was used for stay recreation for children and youth. The hut had various house numbers, from 625 to 251, to the current 0956. After WW2, on September 6, 1950, the Revolutionary Trade Union Movement in Prague became the owner. 

In the 1960s, Hutní Montáže National Company became the new owner. At the same time, the name was changed to Horský hotel Montér/ Montér/Fitter Mountain Hotel, which was probably more in line with the building spirit of those years. 

After 1989, several lessors took turns in the building, until it was finally bought on October 2, 2000 by the company Sepetná, v.o.s. At this time, the hotel returned to its original name SEPETNÁ, as it used to be called in the old days. Since 2022, Sepetná has been run by company JAKA21 s.r.o.

History of Hotel Sluníčko

This object, formerly known as Slezan cottage, was built as a recreational cottage for the employees and their families of Slezan Frýdek-Místek State Company. It has been run by company SEPETNÁ, v.o.s. Since 2001. Between the years 2003 and 2011, the cottage underwent several renovations and reconstructions; in 2013 a neighbouring Měsíček / Little Moon cottage was built and added to the hotel. Hotel location

Hotel Sluníčko lies in the central part of Beskydy Mountains, at the foot of the highest peak, Lysá Hora. From the rooms, the restaurant and the entire area there is a wonderful view of the nearby peaks such as Smrk, Malý Smrk, Smrčina, Ostrá, the Ondřejník massif with the Skalka peak. The hotel is accessible by car, following an asphalt road about 2 km directly from the centre of the Ostravice village. Not far from the hotel, there is a possibility to join the main tourist trail to Lysá hora.

From the history

The hotel was built in the 1980s’ as a cottage for corporate recreation of the Slezan Frýdek-Místek State Company. In the 1990s, it became the property of the Revolutionary Trade Union Movement, and in 2001 it was purchased by the company Sepetná, v.o.s.. In 2013, this company also bought the adjacent cottage, now called the Měsíček cottage.

Reconstruction

The first renovations took place in the hotel from 2001 to 2003; one floor was added, the kitchen was repaired and equipped. Together with the hotel, the outdoor area with a swimming pool was also repaired; toboggans and an artificial grass playground were built, and ground-water heat pumps were installed, which have kept heating the hotel to this day. This resulted in a hotel with ** and *** standard rooms, and the Sluníčko swimming pool open to the public. In 2011, another renovation took place, and all rooms were updated to the *** superior standard; a new restaurant with a banquet room, a lounge, and a children’s corner was built. In 2014, the Měsíček cottage underwent demanding construction modifications.

The names Sluníčko and Měsíček

At the time of the first constructions, the owners were deciding on the name of the building. Thanks to its location, where the sun shines on the hotel for most of the day, and the sunsets are especially breathtaking, it was named Sluníčko / Little Sun Boarding House. After that, in 2014, it was easy to choose the name of the neighbouring cottage Měsíček / Little Moon because they naturally belong together. Until the end of 2020, the building was called Sluníčko Boarding House. In December 2020, the AHR CR certification took place, and the building has been called Hotel Sluníčko since 2021.
